Memorial Description:

Column on pedestal about 12 feet high (3.7m) in total, set on three graded steps.

A gable top surmounts a shield on each face with a cross raised in half relief.

At the bottom of the column, above the pedestal, is a wreath raised in half relief.

The pedestal sunken panels set back on each face.

The dedication is in the front face in elaborate capitals.

The names are listed in a single column on the other three panels.

All lettering is of lead raised in sans serif capitals.

The whole is set within a semi-circular area which is covered with tarmac and surrounded by a low wall of red brick.

Notes:

1. The Edinburgh Evening News 25/07/1932 reports:- Built to replace the old War Memorial destroyed by fire a new cenotaph was dedicated by the Bishop of Newcastle during the weekend.

2. The Morpeth Herald 19/09/1947 reports:-
Many of the people who attended the unveiling of the memorial to the 61 men who lost their lives in the 1914-18 war at Cambois on July 23rd 1932 were again present at the unveiling of a second memorial.

3. The Monument was restored 1995. It was also restored and rededicated in July 2015.
