Memorial Description:

Column approx. 10 feet high (3m) in total with wide ridge all round near the top surmounted by a shallow pointed block.

It rests on a base 12 inches high x 30 inches square (30cms x 76cms).

The dedication is carried on one side with names underneath. The rest of the names are in single columns on the other three sides.

Lettering is incised using sans serif capitals throughout.

The site is surrounded by a low rail.

Notes:

1. The Illustrated Chronicle states that the memorial is 8 feet 6 inches high and is made of blue stone.

2.  A.D. Horner was the only inhabitant to die in WW2 – see his Every Name a Story entry’s name

3. In 2018 a soldier figure and a seat were added as part of the Commemorations of 1914-1918.

Illustrated Chronicle
03/09/1920 reports that the memorial has been erected.
