Memorial Description:

Calvary on tall octagonal slender column, total height 20 feet (6.1m), on a pedestal.

There is a platform of three steps, the lowest one being 118 inches square and 10 inches high (300cms x 15cms)

On three faces of the pedestal are two plaques, a smaller one above centrally placed above the lower one.

The upper one bears the names in a single column, the lower one is divided into two panels each with the names in a single column.

Another plaque 6 inches high x 12 inches wide (15cms x 30cms) bears the dedication.

Lettering is in raised sans serif capitals.

Notes:

1. The proposed design was reported in 1919 as a being a “15th century cross, with the figure of Our Lord upon it. At the base in slate panels are to be inserted the names of all from the parish who have fallen in the Great War”.

2. Mrs. Roberts, who unveiled the memorial, lost two sons, Gerard Chipchase Roberts and Frederick John Robert, during the Great War. See D47.075

3. The bronze plaques were stolen in early October 2009. They were replaced.
