Notes:

1. “The new altar in St. Joseph’s Church, Stanley, erected to the memory of fallen soldiers of the parish, is to be furnished by cloths, candlesticks and other fittings by Mrs. Bowes of Annfield Plain, in memory of her two sons, one of whom was drowned in H.M.S. Partridge at sea, and the other killed in action in France, at about the same time in the year 1917. The cost will be over £25.”
