The Club seems to be defunct.

The steward at the Conservative Club, South Parade, knows nothing of the fate of the Unionist Club memorial.

Roll of Honour

1. The Club reported that, although one-third of their membership had signed up, their had been no claims on their Members’ Dependants’ War Fund.

2. The Club reported the loss of two members Mr. Attwell, who died of pneumonia in France, and Mr. McKay, of the Royal Navy, who was reported missing.

3. Shields Daily News 02/06/1919 reports:-
WHITLEY BAY UNIONIST CLUB.
The directors and members the Whitley Bay Unionist Club gave welcome home on Saturday evening, to those of their number who had returned from service with his Majesty’s Forces. Mr  Chas. Turton presided over the gathering, and after supper Councillor C. W. Souter unveiled a “roll of honour”. A musical programme, arranged Mr J. Cowans Hewitt, was submitted.
