Memorial Description

Roll of Honour behind glass. From a poor press photo, it seems to have been designed to represent a Greek temple with the names down the centre.

(To the following 31 members of the Dock Superintendent's Staff, Tyne Dock, who in the Great War 1914-1918 were "faithful unto death").

Notes

1. There was a smaller plaque which bore the words:

“For honour, liberty and truth/ they sacrificed their glorious youth./ They died, if it be death to give / Their lives that all their friends might live”.

2. Despite repeated enquiries concerning this Memorial, the Tyne Dock authorities have no idea of its whereabouts. Presumed Lost.
