Memorial Description

Plaque of white marble 5 feet high x 5 feet 5 inches wide with Ionic columns and carved canopy set on red marble pattress. The names are listed in three columns. The words “To the Glory of God” are in Gothic, the rest of the lettering is in sans serif capitals.

1. From the village, 500 men had served, of whom 74 died.

2. The plaque was expected to cost £134 and the Cross £186 17s 0d. At the time of submission a total of £327 had been raised by public subscription.
