Memorial Description

Triptych 3 feet high to centre top x 1 foot 4 inches wide. Centre is of copper with crude figure of a knight, sword reversed and bowed head, set against a red flag of St. George on a beaten background of brick pattern. Above in the traceried domed top is a red enamel shield of St. John with bronze eagle. The folding doors, each 2 feet high x 8 inches wide are of brass and contain the names on the inside. The names are raised in half relief. The whole is framed in dark oak.

Notes

1. The list of names was not complete, but included as many names as had been notified to the Vicar, Rev. A.S. Thompson, up to that time.

2. At the time of unveiling, £15 was still needed, and the offertory taken on that occasion was used to defray this.
