The opened doors measure 10 inches wide (254 mm), the central part measures 20 inches wide (508 mm). On the opened inner doors are lists of names incised and painted black and red using elaborate and elongated san serif capital letters.
In the central panel is a parchment roll with highly coloured border. It features a picture of Bamburgh village dominated by the Castle at the top. To the left is a sword inside a wreath with the words “Pro Patria” on a ribbon round the sword. Below this is an angel receiving a wounded soldier. The dates are inside a wreath at the bottom left hand corner. The quotation is at centre bottom with a cross on a shield.
