A brief account of
Egglescliffe men
who fought in the Great War 1914 1918
Weve paid in our toil and our woundings;
Weve paid in the blood weve shed;
Weve paid in our bitter hardships;
Weve paid in our many dead.
Weve fought with a definite object,
And its this we want it made plain,
That its God and not any devil,
Thats to rule in the world again.
