Sewart, G.E.S., Lieut., 1916
In Agny Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant Gerald Evelyn Shuldham Sewart, serving with the 10th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 08/05/1916.

Gerald Evelyn Shuldham was the only son of Anthony Wilkinson Sewart and Margaret Evelyn Shuldham. Margaret died shortly after Gerald's birth at Low Moor near Wibsey, Yorkshire in 1893.

His father married Constance Annie Ormsby. In 1901 his father was a curate at Knaresborough.

In 1911 his father was the Rector at Brignall. Gerald has not been identified on the census

Gerald enlisted and joined the Durham Light Infantry. He went to France 3rd July 1915. He was killed in action 8th May 1916.

He was the recipient if the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Gerald Evelyn Shuldham Sewart is remembered at Brignall on B169.01 and B169.02 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 112.

He is also named in Balliol College, Oxford, and Giggleswick School, Yorkshire.
