Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Henry was born on 1st July 1896. He was working as miner, living with his mother, Jane, at 7, Mindrum Terrace, Percy Main when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 5th January 1915. His next of kin was later changed to his aunt , Mrs. Scott at the same address.

Henry joined the Hood Battalion in Gallipoli on 18th July 1915 and was invalided to the UK on 24th August 1915 suffering from Rheumatism.

He rejoined the Hood Battalion in France on 25th November 1916 and was hospitalised on 4th February 1917 with Debility.

After rejoining the Hood Battalion again on 26th February 1917 Henry was hospitalised again on 11th May 1917 suffering from Pyrexia.

Rejoining the Hood Battalion again on 10th July 1917 he was invalided to the UK on 7th November 1917 with Trench Foot.

Rejoining the Hood Battalion yet again on 24th March 1918 Henry was hospitalised again on 22nd June 1918 suffering from Influenza.

He rejoined the Hood Battalion for the last time on 25th August 1918 and served until 4th September 1918 when he was gravely wounded and invalided to the UK on 23rd September 1918. Henry died at 12.30am on 28th September 1918 in Ford House Hospital, Devonport following an operation to treat a gun shot wound to the brain.

Henry White is remembered in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 28 and listed in Percy Main in P22.01
