In Chauny Communal Cemetery British Extension, Aisne, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 204508 Private Ralph William Nattrass serving with the 1st / 5th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry who died 22/09/1916.

In Newbrough (St. Peter) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Ralph William was the youngest son of Thomas and Jane Nattrass.

He was born at Warden, Hexham in 1882 and worked as a Railway Clerk, prior to his enlisting.

Ralph William was the husband of Isabella of 4a Station Road, Cramlington, who he had married in 1910.

He was taken prisoner on 27 May 1918 and died at Darcy on 23 September 1918, aged 36 years.

According to his medal card records he served with the 1st/7th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and died on 22 September 1918.

He attended Newbrough Boys School, leaving in 1896.
