Northumberland Fusiliers Badge
Derek Johnstone has provided the following:
Peter Henry Dodds was born at Bedlington in 1892 and his parents were Alexander John and Mary Jane Dodds. In 1891 they were living at 34, South Row, Horton Northumberland. His father died in 1894 and his mother married Owen Tucker in 1897.
In 1901 the family were living at Coach Road, Bedlington and Peter was living at this address when he enlisted at Newcastle on Tyne. He was still living at Coach Road, Bedlington along with his stepsister’s Julia and Rose Ann and stepbrother Owen in 1911. Peter was single (1911), does not appear to have married and worked in the coal mines as a pony putter.
Enquiries show he possibly died on the last day of the Battle of Albert. His brother Patrick Dodds also enlisted and died in 1918.
He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.09, B15.11 and B15.17 where his name is "Henry"
