In Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 5985 Private William Fitzsimmons, serving with the Army Cycle Corps who died 04/10/1916.

Derek Johnstone has submitted the following:

William Fitzsimmons was born at Seaham Harbour, Sunderland. He enlisted at Bedlington and was originally in the Northumberland Fusiliers (14416).

In 1912 he was living with the Golding family at Beechgrove, Bedlington. William, a coalminer, married in 1912 Mary K. Naylor, registered at Newcastle.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.11, B15.16, B15.17 and in B15.26 page 1
