Greener, C.D., A/Smn, 1916
In Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/1455 Able Seaman Charles Dunn Greener, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 13/11/1916.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Charles was born on February 3rd 1896. He was working as a miner living with his father, Thomas at 62, Roslyn Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 13th 1914. He joined the Hawke Battalion on March 9th 1915 and was attached to the 8th Corps Mining Company in Gallipoli on August 23rd 1915.

Charles rejoined the Hawke Battalion on January 9th 1916 and was granted UK leave on February 26th 1916. He rejoined the Hawke Battalion on June 25th 1916 and was killed in action in France on November 13th 1916.

Charles Dunn Greener is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
