In Embleton (Spitalford) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Loving memory of
William Humble
who died 17th July 1918,
aged 56 years.
Also of Mary Ann, his wife
who died 15th Feb. 1953,
aged 25 years.
Grace Eleanor,
their daughter died 30th May 1917
aged 26 years.
William James McLaren,
their son, missing in action in France
24th October 1917 aged 22 years.
Roberta their daughter
died 13th Sept. 1907 aged 6 months.
Cyril Laurence,
Died 12th Feb. 1936, aged 22 years.
Charles Edward Varnham,
dear husband of Emmie,
died 31st March 1966 aged 63 years.
also Mary Emmeline Varnham
dear wife of the above
died 1st September 1987 aged 84 years.
