On the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval is the name of 19243 Lance Corporal Thomas Leslie Diment, serving with the Coldstream Guards who died 01/12/1917.

In Benwell (St.James) Churchyard is a family headstone for Diment which reads:

In loving memory of
George Diment
Beloved husband of
Margaret Diment
Who died 4th April 1916
Aged 66 years.
Also George Richard Diment
Third son of the above
Who died 6th April 1893
Aged 2 years
Also Thomas Leslie Diment
Fourth son of the above
Killed in France 1st December 1917
Aged 25 years
Also the above
Margaret Diment
Who died 6th October 1937
Aged 70 years.

The Geordie at War Project states:

“3rd Coldstream Guards were part of the 1st Guards Brigade. The Brigade was involved in an attack on Gauche Wood on 1 December 1917. This was part of the Battle of Cambrai. Together with the Grenadier Guards, the Coldstreamers attacked the wood. They came under tremendous machine gun and artillery fire and suffered a large number of casualties. Corporal Diment was killed in this action. His body was never found so he is listed on the Cambrai Memorial.”
