In Lemington Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 24283 Private Ernest Hardie Hodgson, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 27/08/1916.

The family headstone reads:

In memory of
John William, who died July 22nd 1913, aged 21 years.
Also Private Ernest Hardie, (N.F.) who died August 27th 1916
of wounds received in France aged 19 years and 10 months.
dearly loved sons of John H. & Isabella Hodgson
Blanchland House, Throckley.

The Coroner's Report No. 402 29th August 1916:

"Ernest Hardie Hodgson aged 19 years. Pte. No 24283. 13th Battalion N.F.

Home address, Blanchland House, Front Street, Throckley, Newburn, died in 1st Northern General Hospital at 11pm on 27th.

After enquiries the Coroner granted a Certificate. No inquest necessary. Injured at seat of War."
