Son of Robert Kennedy Valks and Mary Jane Valks, of 47, Jane St., Downs, Hetton-le-Hole. Co. Durham.

In Hetton Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

Sacred to the memory of
our dear parents
Robert Kennedy Valks
who died 8th Nov. 1940 aged 74 years
Mary Jane Valks
died 16th June 1941 aged 72 years
Also our dear brother
Cpl. Thomas Valks R.A.M.C.
died in action 1st April 1917
aged 25 years

Loved and remembered

The Durham Chronicle 30/5/1919 reports from the Parish magazine:-

Corpl. Thomas Valks, R.A.M.C., killed in action in France, April 16th, 1917. His parents live at 47 Jane Street.

Thomas Valks is remembered at Aykley Heads on A41.01 at Durham on D47.150 and at Eppleton on E65.01
