GRAYSON, George
Born 07/03/1893.
In 1906 he lived at Ivy Cottage, Sherburn, Co Durham. His father, William Grayson, was a Pit Heap Inspector. He had a younger brother, and was married to Alice.
He was admitted to Durham Johnston School on 17/09/1906, aged 13, having previously attended Boys Model School, Durham.
He worked as a clerk in the Gas Offices.
He joined 155th Bde Royal Field Artillery (Regtl No L/4631), first as Corporal but was commissioned to 2nd Lt in Dec 1917. He first fought in France in Nov 1915.
He died of wounds on 24/12/1918 at Ivy Cottage, Sherburn (on active service)
