Son of Hannah Welsh, of 117, George St., Spennymoor, Co. Durham, England, and the late William Welsh.

In Tudhoe St Charles Roman Catholic Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

pray for the souls of
William
beloved husband of
Hannah Welsh
who died Dec. 20th 1920
aged 79 years
Also Pte. John Welsh son of
the above who was killed in
action July 5th 1915
aged 29 years
Also Gnr. James Welsh
son of the above who was
killed in action March 28th 1918
aged 27 years
