He was admitted to Durham Johnston School on 17/09/1906, age 15, having previously attended Spennymoor Board School.

He served as 2 Lieutenant, 8th Btn Sherwood Forresters (Notts and Derby Rgt); He died 01/07/1917 Age 26.Medals British War Medal, Victory Medal.

He is remembered at Durham on D47.025 and at Spennymoor on S131.02 S131.03 and S131.11
