Designed and made by Claude Stewart, a Darlington Freemason.

This memorial, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the cessation of
hostilities on 11th November 1918, is dedicated to those Stockton Freemasons
who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Great War of 1914-1919.
(Names listed under the Lodge title)
“They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary
them not the years condemn . . . .at the going down of the sun
and in the morning . . . .We Will Remember Them.”

It is further dedicated to all Freemasons who have served and
continue to serve, in the many conflicts world wide.

Plaque 25 inches high x 15 inches wide.

At the top is the Masonic badge.

Below this is the dedication, followed by the names of the Lodges and the members who died, followed by the quotation.

Lettering is incised using Roman lower case lettering.

At the bottom is the outline of a cross

1. The Cooper Room commemorates Major Edward (Ned) Cooper , a recipient of the Victoria Cross awarded for conspicuous bravery and initiative during the WW1 Battle of Passchendale and a Stockton Freemason.

2. The centre panel is designed to accurately replicate a Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone
