  Durham County Rugby Union

  1939-1946

Rugby footballers throughout the country – many

of them volunteers prior to the outbreak of war in the

  R.N.V.R., Territorial Army and R.A.F., V.R. – have

served our common cause with a gallantry and

distinction which can never be forgotten.

We offer them our gratitude for their manifold

sacrifices, and above all remember with proud and

grateful hearts those now numbered in the great Unseen

  Host.

Where so many have served in the King’s Forces

it would impracticable to compile any complete

records, but the following lists of those who have paid

the Supreme Sacrifice, have endured the rigours of

imprisonment and have been decorated for their

individual and collective service towards the common

Victory, are offered in humble recognition of the part

played in particular by the Rugby Footballers of our

  County.

  Signed E. Watts Moses

  President

  1938-46.

Exploring the North East’s History
Your Search Is Underway!

Please bear with us while we retrieve the information you're searching for. With access to over 1 million records, your search results will include Memorials and Names of individuals within the Counties, Districts, and Parishes of the North East of England. We've also provided filter options to help you narrow down your search. This may take a few moments, and we appreciate your patience!

NEWMP is a non profit organisation and we rely on donations to help us to keep the site running and updated. If you would like to donate you can do so by clicking here. Your help is greatly appreciated.
