Memorial Description:

Plaque 20 inches high rising to 23 inches at highest point x 36 inches wide (508mm x 584mm x 914mm) with shallow curve at centre top.

It is mounted on a wood pattress 31 inches (787mm) wide which echoes its shape.

The school badge is featured in full colour enamel in the top left hand corner.

The names are listed in three columns using Roman capitals.

Notes:

1. Lovaine Avenue. Pre-war school in classical style. Said to be a frieze painting in the main hall of Northumbrian scenes. Opened as two schools (Whitley & Monkseaton High Schools for Boys and Girls) in 1914. Amalgamated in 1937. Became Whitley Bay Grammar School in 1945. Hillheads County Secondary School in 1963. Marden Bridge Middle School in 1973.
