Clock and plaques 1914-18 Institute

On ex-institute building on east side of Front Street, on the wall at first floor level.

Plaque is upper of two.

Building is now a private house.

Marble plaque

This clock and tablet are
erected as a token of gratitude to
the gallant men
who went from this ward
and in memory of the following
who gave their lives during
the Great War 1914-1919

“Honour their names for evermore
for they were the glory of their times”.

Clock with Roman numerals set in the gable top of the porch.

The plaque, which has extended corners and a pointed top, is below the clock.

At centre top is a curled design in half relief.

The letters are in black sans serif capitals.
