Be thou faithful unto death and I will give
thee a crown of life.

On plaque:
This memorial was erected in honour of
the men of St. Gabriel’s
who fell in battle during the Great War 1914-1919
by their friends and fellow-worshippers
that the remembrance of their self sacrifice
might not fade away.

“Greater love hath no man than this, the he lay down his life for his friends”.

Memorial Description:

Wood panels with extended “wings”.

The dedication is carried along the top of the central panel, carved in Gothic gilded lettering.

The seven panels below this are bare.

Both “wing” panels, which are brought forward at an angle at each end, have a winged angel carrying a crown.

The names are incised in a single column on each panel and gilded using Roman capitals throughout.

On the right hand wing a name has been added onto the edge of the panelling.

Alongside is a plaque set on oak pattress. There is a single line border.

The lettering is in raised Roman capitals apart from the quotation which is in sans serif lower case.
