Memorial Description:

Book of Remembrance 12 inches high x 8 inches wide (304mm x 204mm), bound in black leather.

There are ten pages for St. Peter’s Parish and 5 pages for St. Cuthbert’s Parish.

The names are inscribed in a single column on each page.

There is a cross in the top corner of each page, at the centre of each double page are the words “St. Peter’s (or St. Cuthbert’s) War Memorial 1914-1919” below which is written “To the glory of God”.

At the bottom of each right hand page is “We will remember them”.

Each page is calligraphed.

Names:

125 full names from St. Peters;
44 surnames and initials from St. Cuthbert’s.

Notes:

1. It seems that this book replaces a wood plaque which used to hang in the Church and was lost in the fire.

2. C.D. Pyle should be C.T. Pyle. There were two Charles Tomkinson Pyles – father and son both died in WW1
