Roll of Honour, hand painted onto plywood.

The background is painted brown, with black shadows.

Lettering is painted in gold with black shadowing.

The names are listed in two columns, using plain capitals.

Quoted as being “in an oak frame”.

Notes:

1. 1939-45 war. “Mention should be made here of Father Gerrard Nesbitt, a secular priest who before the outbreak of war was assistant to Father Kershaw. He became an Army Chaplain, and was killed at the age of 33 on July 6, 1944. A Newcastle Journal war correspondent in France wrote ‘Father Nesbitt met his death when a shell burst whilst he was in the act of burying the dead'”.
