Memorial Description:

Cross of Celtic type on three-tiered base, total height 14 feet (4.3m).

Measurements at the base are 37 inches x 45 inches (94cms x 114cms).

Names are in two columns on east, west and south faces of main pedestal, made of lead and affixed to stonework, in sans serif capitals throughout.

Notes:

1 The Blaydon Courier 28/02/1920 reports that money left after the the distribution of the Lemington Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Welcome Home Fund would be handed over to the Lemington War Memorial Fund. The memorial would be a dwelling house for the district nurse with accommodation for urgent cases. Premises had been purchased in Union Hall Road and would be prepared for the accommodation of the nurse as soon as possible.
