Unveiled July 1922 by Cllr. Walter Stell, Chairman of Longbenton Urban District Council.
Dedicated by Rev. Harold White, Vicar of Killingworth.

The replacement was dedicated 9th November 2001

In grateful memory of the old boys
of this school who fell
in the European War 1914-1918

Memorial Description:

Plaque of zinc 32½ inches high x 17 inches wide (83cms x 43cms) mounted in a wood frame with total height of 36½ inches high x 21 inches wide (93cms x 53cms)

The name of the school is borne on a plate at the top.

The dedication is on another plate below this.

The main plate bearing the names is set into the frame itself.

It would seem that some names have been added after the original list, since the upper part of the plate lists names in alphabetical order, and an additional set of names has been added on another plate affixed below, but all within the wooden frame.

The lettering has been incised and painted black, using Roman capitals throughout.

Notes:

1. This plaque was identical in design with the one for Crookham Council School C66.02 and Burradon Council School B73.02

2. The school which burnt down, built in 1893, was in Great Lime Road, West Moor on the south side of B1505.
