Plaque Mavin 1917 St. John

Found in a church storeroom and repositioned.

off Bombay 29th July 1917

Plaque

Lowest one of three mounted on panelling in the sanctuary.

18 inches high x 24inches wide (48cms x 61cms).

There is an elaborate border of entwined vine leaves culminating in roundels at the four corners.

At centre top of the border is another roundel bearing the “IHS” symbol.

The lettering is in Gothic lettering for the dedication and quotation, and elongated Roman capitals for the rest.

Initial letters are enamelled in red, the rest in black.
