Memorial Description:

Plaque with two side wings.

It is set on a wood pattress 33 inches high x 56 inches wide (84cms x 142cms) at its highest point in the centre, and 33 inches high (84cms) at the sides.

The centre plaque measures 19 inches high x 14 inches wide 48cms x 10cms).

There is a wide, raised patterned border, the name of the Club and the dates “1914” and “1918” are carried on the top and bottom border respectively.

The names are listed in a single column.

The two side plaques each measure 11 inches square (28cms) and carry the names for 1939-45.

Each has a raised patterned edge.

All lettering is in raised Roman capitals.

Notes:

1. Two club members were involved in the Boer War in South Africa. These were F. Manford and J.W. (Handsome Jack) Carr.

2. The two Hunter Brothers and W.B. Noble, all of the 6th Northumberland Fusiliers, died on the same day at Ypres in April 1915.

3. Lt. Col. W. Anderson was also in the same action but survived, but was killed in the 1939-45 war.

4. Lt. Wilfred Bainbridge also survived the same action but was killed a year later. Several other members also survived the action.

5. In the 1939-45 war, Commander Jotham returned to Naval duties.
