Memorial Description:

Plaque 4 feet 6 inches high x 7 feet 2 inches wide.

This is set in a wood frame, into the centre of which is a brass plate 2 feet 5 inches high x 4 feet wide.

At centre top are the words “The Second World War”.

To the left and right sides of the plaque are the decorations earned.

The brass plaque has the school badge at centre top with the dates on either side.

The names are listed in three columns. Lettering throughout is Roman capitals

Names:

22 names and regiments of those decorated;
10 names and regiments of those Mentioned in Despatches.
43 names of the fallen.

Notes:

1. Former Pupil Lt. Cdr. Philip Noel “Fearless Freddie” Charlton was a Fleet Air Arm fighter ace of 1939-45 war, and a member of the Goldfish Club established for those who survived being in the sea. He was a pupil at Dame Allan’s between 1929-1934.
