Memorial Description:

Granite Cross of plain Latin type on tall slim tapering column, total height 15 feet. (4.57m).

It stands on a square pedestal, resting on two steps, on a hard concrete floor.

There is decoration half way down the stem.

The dedication is on the north and south sides of the pedestal.

The whole stands in an enclosure of about a tenth of an acre with 60 inch high (1.52m) railings and a gate.

Notes:

1. At the unveiling, £727 had been raised, but a further £300 was needed. The Chairman agreed to double his subscription to £100 if others were also prepared to help.

2. The park was refurbished in 2004 with new brick paths and new benches, the paving round the cross was renewed along with the railings. This did not include re-cutting the lettering on the memorial, which is hard to read. Rededicated 2005.

3. At the time of the Great War, there were approx. 2,000 people in the area, of whom 38 fell.

4. 2024 visit, the names need re-cutting, they are painted with black paint badly done and mortar is missing.
