The centre and tallest panel bears a cross raised in half relief and gilded.
Below this is the quotation in gilded elaborate capitals.
The names are carried on the two panels on either side of this, in a single column on each.

1. According to the Illustrated Chronicle the unveiling was carried out in February 1921, the unveiling being carried out by Canon C.J. Hamer, a former vicar of the church. “The roll consists of an oak panel round the chancel bearing the names of parishioners who made the supreme sacrifice”.
2. The roll contains the name of Canon Hamer’s son.
3. A Faculty No. 1718 dated 24/03/1950 granted: “That a new pulpit in oak be placed in the Church as a War Memorial in lieu of the present stone pulpit . . . to place a small brass plate (3” x 31”) inside the pulpit bearing the following inscription: ‘To the glory of God and in memory of the fallen dead’”. The estimated cost was £215 with the “Whole of money available”. It was designed by G.E. Charlewood, Architect, Newcastle upon Tyne. Was this intended to be a memorial for 1939-45, which was abandoned in favour of adding the names to the panelling?
