the men of Cambo parish
who gave their lives
for their country
during the Great War
1914-1918

Obelisk about 16 feet high (4.9m), slightly tapered, draped with with a carved laurel wreath.

The obelisk rests on a pedestal 26 inches square (66cms) which has the names incised on two of its faces, with the dedication incised on the third.

The whole rests on three sandstone steps.

The letters are in Roman capitals apart from the words “To the Undying memory of” which are elaborate capitals in an arc at the top.

1.    People who died during the 1939-45 war in Cambo district are included in Kirkwhelpington’s memorial, as Cambo had become part of that parish.

2. The memorial was repaired after a falling tree broke it in half.
