Stained Glass Window Savory 1941 St. Aidan

St. Aidan’s Church, on A167 Durham Road South of Ferryhill.

1939-45

In loving memory of
Eric Savory
who was lost on H.M.S Cossack
on October 23rd 1941
aged 20 years

Stained glass window of a single light, 108 inches high x 28 inches wide (274cms x 71cms).

It depicts Jesus in a red robe and halo walking on water and reaching out to a man drowning.

In the top is a tiny angel with the words “He shall give his angels charge over thee” alongside.

Below the man, and written into the waves, are the words “Oh thou of little faith / wherefore didst thou / doubt”.

In the bottom right hand corner is a panel bearing the dedication in black Roman lettering.
