and (Name) H.M.S. Trident
who died April 29th 1916 aged ?42 years

Erected by their shipmates.

Memorial with pillar 48 inches high (122cms).

It takes the form of the broken lower part of a mast, on a pedestal of rough stones, 72 inches high (183cms), mounted on two plain steps.

Total height is 10 feet (3m).

At the base of the mast are incised the words “Sacred to the memory of” with ropes, an anchor and a lifebelt carved in relief.

The quotation is incised into a panel below these, and underneath this is incised a profile of a submarine.

The names are incised in sans serif capitals on one side of the two lower steps.

1. HMS Trident of 3129 tons was sunk by torpedo from a submarine on 7th August 1917, 34 miles north by east from Dragonera Island, Majorca.

2. Submarine E30 of 805 tons was launched 29 June 1915, completed December 1915. She was sunk in the North Sea off Harwich on 22 November 1916, cause unknown. The men named on this memorial were obviously killed in a later engagement.

3. All four men named on this memorial are buried in the cemetery.
