Inscription:

To the honoured memory of the men from this Parish who gave their lives for King and Country
in the Great War 1914-1918 their fellow parishioners place their names here.

Memorial Description:

Panelling 36 inches high x 108 inches wide (91cms x 274cms).

It is curved to fit between the top of the wall and the ceiling of the chapel.

It is divided into six panels.

The dedication along the top is in raised gilded Roman capitals, with the letter “V” being used instead of “U”.

The names are listed in a single column on each of the six panels in white Roman capitals.

Notes:

1. It was estimated that the costs of the proposals would be £1,000, which was the sum they wished to raise. But costs meant that this would be insufficient, and it was proposed to simplify the work, but even then the costs would be £1,100.

2. Bedlington Church by Rev. Alexander Campbell-Fraser M.A. Published in 1949 states:-In 1921 the south porch chamber was formed into a memorial chapel to the fallen. It contains Rolls of Honour, stained window and a carved reredos. The total cost, £1313 was raised wholly by voluntary offerings, of which the Bedlington Coal Company contributed more than half.
