On Liverpool Naval Memorial is the name of Fireman Robert Nicholson Brunton, serving on H.M. Trawler Evelina with the Naval Auxiliary Personnel (Merchant Navy) who died 14/12/1939.

In Preston Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Peace perfect peace
In loving memory of
dear wife & mother
Margaret Brunton
died June 28th 1963
aged 69 years

Also dear son
Robert
lost at sea
through enemy action
December 14th 1939
aged (?) years

Robert Brunton
husband of the late Margaret
died Feb. 12th 1976
aged 81 years.
