Sidney Lait was the son of Frederick and Edith Lait, and the nephew of Charles Lait, of Ipswich, Suffolk.

He was killed with 16 other crew members when the vessel was in a collision near Longstone Light.

Sidney Lait is remembered in our List of Ships’ Crews.
