On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Fireman James William Ruddy, serving on S.S. Mordenwood (Middlesbrough) with the Mercantile Marine, who died 18/05/1917.

The son of the late Francis P. and Mary Ruddy and the husband of Mary Elizabeth Ruddy (nee Watson), of 8, King Street, North Shields. He was born at North Shields.
