The son of George and Alice Seymour, of Hull and the husband of Vera Doreen Seymour, of Hull.

HMT Loch Doon (Skipper George Henry Alexander Thompson, RNR) was mined east of Blyth on the 25th December 1939. The field had been laid on the 20th December 1939 by the German U-Boat U-22 commanded by Kapitnleutnant Karl-Heinrich Jenisch, there were 16 dead in the sinking.
