On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of First Radio Officer James William Esmond Hay, serving on S.S. City of Bath  with the Merchant Navy who died 01/12/1942.

. The son of the Revd. Canon Alexander James Hay, M.A. and Carolina Isabella Esther Hay, of Hawick Rectory, Roxburghshire.

He is included in the Scout Roll of Honour 1939-45 as having been a member of the 22nd Newcastle upon Tyne Group.

James William Esmond Hay is remembered in our List of Ships’ Crews.
