In Newcastle upon Tyne (West Road) Cemetery is a headstone maintained by the Commonwealth War Grave Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Defence as a non-war headstone which reads:-

E.K. Hawke
(of Canada)
Fireman and Trimmer
S.S. Daleby
15th February 1942

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle 23/03/1942 reports:-
Body found in Tyne
The body of a man. believed from papers In the pockets to that of Edwin Kemp Hawke, of Granbv Avenue, Toronto. Canada, seaman who fell into the river on February 15, was discovered floating the Tyne to-day.

There is no CWGC entry for Firemen Hawke.
