On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 119468 Flight Lieutenant Frederick Mountain, serving with the 613 Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 19/05/1944.

The son of Frederick Arthur and Violet Sabina Mountain and the husband of Elizabeth Margaret Mountain, of Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Frederick Mountain was born in 1914. In 1939 parents Frederick Arthur born 1886 a Railway Clerk and Violet Sabina born 1887 were living at 67 Sandringham Gardens.

In summer 1940 Frederick married Elizabeth Bradley from Longbenton.

The Newcastle Journal 29/09/1943 reports:-
North flyer got plane safely home Navigator of a Fighter Command Mosquito which last week flew safely back from France on one engine after successful attacks on the Nazi-controlled railway system in Brittany, was Flying Officer Frederick Mountain, Longbenton.
Mountain, 29-year-old native of Hull, is a member of Fighter Command’s Madras Squadron, the squadron which, flying Defiants over the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940, shot down 37 German aircraft in one day.
In March this year he shared the first daylight victory won over the Luftwaffe Fighter Command Mosquitos.

He was brother to Arthur Mountain

Frederick Mountain is remembered on North Shields on N34.09 and at Newcastle in NUT255 page 26.
