The son of Robert English Womphrey and Isabella Montgomery Womphrey and the husband of Jessica Womphrey (nee Turnpenney), of Birkenhead, Cheshire.

In Wallsend Church Bank Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Aged 7 months.
