In Hebburn Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of FX86122 Air Fitter Desmond Duggan serving on H.M.S. Daedalus with the Royal Navy who died 20/06/1942.

The son of Patrick and Elizabeth Nora Duggan, of Hebburn.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
our dear son
Desmond
(Fleet Air Arm)
who died June 20th 1942
aged 20 years

Also my beloved husband
Patrick
who died Jan. 21st 1958
aged 65 years

For the love of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus
Pray for me
